About RetirementTaxIndex

RetirementTaxIndex is an independently maintained planning publication for people comparing Medicare income-related premiums with retirement income decisions. Its calculators focus on specific questions: the current IRMAA tier, the published-tier effect of a taxable Roth conversion amount, and the federal taxable portion of Social Security benefits.

Who publishes and maintains the site

RetirementTaxIndex publishes the calculators and editorial pages and is responsible for source review, implementation, testing, and corrections. Questions and correction reports are handled through [email protected]. The site does not claim that its automated estimates are individualized review by a CPA, EA, CFP professional, attorney, or Medicare representative.

How the site is built

Calculation constants, applicable years, source URLs, publication dates, implementation dates, and review dates are stored in a shared rule registry. The browser calculators and source ledger use that same registry. Automated boundary tests cover the standard, joint, and special married-filing-separately IRMAA tables, Part D additions, Roth comparison totals, and Social Security inclusion layers. Inputs are processed in the browser and are not submitted to this site.

Editorial standard

Official tables are labeled by year, each calculator displays its source of record and last-reviewed date, and future thresholds are not presented as confirmed. The numerical source of record is identified separately from supporting procedural guidance. Source changes require a registry update, regression tests, regenerated pages, and a change-log entry before publication.
